Shorts Monetization

Every Vertical Video
Pays You.

Shorts, Reels and TikToks are where your catalog is used most and claimed least. MusicYes runs three separate claim layers on a single delivery — sound recording, audiovisual, and composition synchronization — so a fifteen-second clip made by someone you have never met still lands in your royalty statement.

The Gap

Your Recording Gets Claimed.
Your Song Usually Does Not.

Most distributors deliver a sound recording and stop there. That catches the clips that use your master — and misses every cover, every remix, every re-sung version, and every piece of audiovisual usage that a platform pays out separately. On short-form, where a track lives or dies by how many people rebuild it, that is the majority of the usage.

MusicYes claims the recording and the underlying composition, directly through our own YouTube CMS — with no third party sitting between you and the money.

One Upload In.
Three Claims Out.

Three rights. Three payouts. Same delivery.

Every short-form upload that contains your music is fingerprinted against our reference database. When it matches, we do not stop at the master. Each right is claimed under its own platform agreement, and each one generates a separate revenue line on the same asset.

The third layer is the one almost nobody has switched on. Deliver the sound recording together with the composition and the song itself becomes claimable — covers, remixes and re-recordings included, monetized as synchronization across US territories.

The Three Layers

What We Actually Claim

Each layer is a different right, paid under a different platform agreement. Running all three is what separates a distributor that collects from a distributor that uploads.

Sound Recording

Your master is fingerprinted and matched against user-generated uploads. When a creator drops your track into a Short, a Reel or a TikTok, the usage is identified and the revenue attributed to you.

Worldwide

Audiovisual

Where a clip carries your audiovisual content, it is monetized on a usage basis under the YouTube Deal and the Meta Deal rather than as a flat recording match — a second revenue line on the same asset.

Usage Based

Composition

The song itself, monetized as synchronization. Deliver the composition alongside the recording and covers, remixes and re-recordings of your work are detected — usage a recording-only delivery never sees.

Composition claiming is monetized as synchronization under our YouTube publishing licence and applies to US territories: US (United States), AS (American Samoa), GU (Guam), MP (Northern Mariana Islands), PR (Puerto Rico), UM (U.S. Outlying Islands), VI (U.S. Virgin Islands). Audiovisual usage on Meta surfaces is monetized under the Meta Deal on a usage basis, across all worldwide territories currently active for the deal.

The Cover You Never
Knew Existed

A creator records your chorus in their bedroom, posts it as a Short, and it does four million views. Your master was never used, so a recording-only claim finds nothing. The composition is still yours — and that is the layer almost nobody has switched on.

Deliver the recording and the composition together and MusicYes claims both sides of the asset. Very few distributors in the world operate this feature directly. We do, through our own CMS, with no intermediary taking a cut of your publishing.

  • Covers and re-recordings

Detected as your song even when the audio is entirely new.

  • Remixes and edits

Sped-up, slowed, mashed up — the underlying work still registers.

  • Sync inside UGC

Vertical clips built around your song, monetized as synchronization under the YouTube Deal.

What We Need From You

Claiming Only Works
On Clean Rights

Composition claiming touches other people's money, so we do not switch it on loosely. To activate the full three-layer setup on your catalog, you need to hold or represent the rights on both sides of the asset.

Short-Form Is Where Your Catalog Lives

Vertical video is now one of the largest sources of music consumption on the planet, and most of it is being used without being claimed. If you hold rights, this is revenue you are already generating. Let us collect it.
